Threatening with objects or weapons

What it is

Using any object as an intimidation tool: a knife, a glass, a belt, a gun. The threat is already violence — it doesn't have to be carried out.

How it gets justified

I'd never hurt you — I was just angry.

The body can't distinguish between "real" and "performative" threat. The presence of a weapon, or anything used as one, activates a full survival response. You don't have to wait for it to be carried out to take it seriously.

You're overreacting — I didn't even touch you.

The object doesn't have to touch your body. The threat is already violence. The body has already registered that your life can be at stake. That read is correct.
